Liz Wainger

Liz Wainger Bio

Liz Wainger's career spans more than twenty years in public relations, marketing communications and journalism. In 2000, Liz founded Wainger Group, an independent, strategic communications consulting firm that helps position and brand public, private and not-for-profit companies and organizations. She founded the firm to provide the kind of service that she was always looking for but didn't necessarily get when she was on the client side.

Prior to founding Wainger Group, Liz served as Director of Communications for the Morino Institute/Morino Group in Reston, VA where she positioned and branded the initial rollout of Venture Philanthropy Partners, a philanthropic investment organization that helps great leaders build strong, high-performing nonprofit institutions.

Holding senior communications positions at The National Trust for Historic Preservation and the American Institute of Architects, Liz directed national media relations and advertising campaigns. Liz has received many awards for her work that include a Clarion Award from Women in Communications and a Thoth Award from the National Capital Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.

Liz was a reporter with the Washington Post on the Metro and Style desks.  Earlier in her career, she was a social worker at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Liz currently serves on the boards of Leadership Greater Washington and the Mid-Altantic Facilitators Network. For nearly ten years, she was a member on the Board of Child Trends. Liz graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Tufts University with a Bachelor of Arts in Russian.
